On September 19, at one of the central avenues in Yerevan a signature campaign was initiated and organized by “United Youth League” and “Menq” (We) youth organizations against religious organizations operating in Armenia, where, according to the www.nyut.am website, is stated. “Taking into consideration the rapidly ramifying disruptive operations of the cults in Armenia which is an intentional crime towards the Armenian nation against its identity, “The United Youth League” and “WE” youth movements organize a signature campaign where they proclaim intolerance against cults. It’s a claim to the Government of Armenia and other relevant State bodies to take immediate measures to investigate the actions of the cults in Armenia and to cease the operation of contumacious religious organizations and investigate all criminal elements. “UYL” and “WE” movements require inspecting the operations of all registered and non-registered religious organization (cults) and interdicting their subversive impact on the Armenian society. They require the Government of Armenia to cease the operation of the following cults “Khoran (Tabernacle)” – international Christian church, “Word of Life”, “Reyma”, “Jehovah’s Witnesses”, “Mets Shnorhk (Great Mercy)”. Additional information can be provided about the cults stated in this claim that can expedite the ceasing process.

A several days ago, on September 9 the General Supervisor and Director of the “Hayordats Tner” Organization of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archimandrite Komitas Hovnanyan announced that there are more than 215 cults functioning in Armenia which are political organizations.
According to www.newsarmenia.ru/ http://newsarmenia.ru/society/20130909/42933579.html/,
Archimandrite Komitas also claimed that the “cults” receive annual funding of half billion dollars and have the aim to destroy the State of Armenia. He addressed the government suggesting them to develop a plan that will protect national interests, without which it will be impossible to unite the nation for the fight against destructive cults. This press conference received large mass media coverage.
The stated press conference was organized in collaboration with one of these youth organizations stated above “United Youth League” that is co-chaired by Sevak Hovhannsiyan.
