His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians has sent a message to President of Russia Vladimir Putin in which he thanked him for the efforts to preserve the Armenian heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh, the press service of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin reported to Armenpress.
Earlier, RIA Novosti reported that His Holiness Karekin II has highly appreciated the efforts of the authorities of the Russian Federation and particularly Vladimir Putin for the cessation of hostilities, the establishment of ceasefire and the establishment of peace and stability in the region.
“I would like to express deep gratitude to you personally for the efforts made to preserve the historical heritage of the Armenian people (monasteries, churches and cultural monuments) in the territories to be transferred to Azerbaijan,” the message reads.
In particular, the Catholicos of All Armenians emphasized that the deployment of Russian peacekeepers helped make sure that church service continues at Dadivank Monastery.
“Our people will always remember the major role that Russia played in stopping the bloodshed in Artsakh and will pray for the steadfastness of the centuries-old Armenian-Russian friendship,” His Holiness Karekin II emphasized.
